Happy Holidays

We had a busy last week at Westside, both the Toddler and Casa classrooms were finishing up gifts for their families and were delighted to bring home such pretty parcels. We hope you enjoy! We started our week off with a visit from “Firefighter Marla”, thanks for all the safety tips. The children loved practising “stop, drop and roll”!

Wednesday morning we welcomed the Upper Elementary class from Taddle Creek for our annual sing-a-long; our children were thrilled to sing and share a little holiday cheer with the older children. MMmmmmm, apple cider and cookies………

Thursday morning, we had a visit from Henry, Jones’ dad. He brought his guitar and Jones’ drum set. We pulled out our basket of instruments and had a wonderful jam session. We started off with “The Wheels on the Bus”, Henry played a few of his original tunes, including “Baby Jones” and a tune about animals he wrote just for his visit. Thanks a ton, Henry!!

Later that day, we were all very surprised to have a visit from a friend of Jasper’s dad, Gerry. Your guess of where he met Ol’ Saint Nick is as good as mine. Thanks for popping by!

We winded down our week with a visit from Natalie, Myron’s mom, a Registered Nurse, who is studying to be a midwife. She shared a lovely story about a midwife’s role in welcoming a new baby. We all listened to each other’s heartbeat and learned how to wrap a baby up in a cozy blanket. Thanks very much, Nat!

It’s wonderful to be a part of such a diverse community and we thank you all for bringing your knowledge and talents to Westside. Have a wonderful holiday and we’ll see you in 2010.
